I know I said I wasn’t going to do politics on my Substack, but some issues are just so important I feel like it’s my duty to speak up. So please read this.
Terrorism. It’s blowing stuff up and killing people to strike terror in others.
I think it’s a bad idea.
People will come to me and say, “Hey, Frank. Let’s go terrorize people. I’ve got some bombs and some guns. It’ll be great.” I don’t mince words in that situation; I say, “No way, man. I am not doing that. And frankly, I’m going to think less of you if you do.”
And that’s the truth. I don’t care if saying it loses me friends (which it has -- though sometimes it was because they were disappeared by the CIA); I’m going to say it because I feel that strongly about it.
Now, you may say, “But isn’t terrorism cool? Steve says it’s great, and he’s really cool.” Well, yeah, Steve is cool -- he has sunglasses -- but what I think is even cooler is law and order. Well, laws aren’t cool, but order can be. Without order, we’d never have a society that could make sunglasses. What does Steve think of that?
I know a lot of people are going to be resistant to this. “What am I supposed to do with all these pipe bombs if not terrorism?” they’ll say. And I don’t have a good answer for that. I just know what’s true, and that’s that terrorism is crummy. And if you’re going to cancel me or throw a pipe bomb at me for that opinion, all I have to say to that is please don’t.
